Meet Dumpling! Our Gentle, Sensitive Soul.

Dumpling is a beautiful Chow Chow girl who lives up to typical breed traits.

She came into our care after finding it difficult to share her previous home with another dog, so she's now looking for a calm, understanding forever home where she can be the only dog. To help her feel secure, she'll also need a pet-free environment with no visiting dogs or trips to other dog-filled homes.

In her past home, Dumpling was affectionate with familiar women but felt a bit unsure around men and unfamiliar faces. As a result of this she would quietly remove herself from situations that make her uncomfortable. She has show similar behaviour with unknown dogs, though has started to become a lot more fluid and offer nice social cues when passing them.

Since arriving with us, Dumpling has made amazing progress. We’ve been gently building her confidence, and every day she becomes a little braver. While she’s still cautious around new people and sometimes dogs, she’s beginning to show her lovely personality more and more. She’s learning to trust at her own pace, and it's been a joy to watch her grow.

Dumpling is looking for an experienced, patient home ideally with someone who has owned Chow Chows or has experience with nervous dogs. She needs someone who can read her body language, advocate for her when she feels unsure, and respect her need for space when she asks for it. A private, secure garden would be the perfect place for her to continue her training in peace, away from distractions.
